Shanuja Manoratnam, Registered Psychotherapist

Hi! My name is Shanuja, and I’m a second-generation Tamil-Canadian. Growing up, I rarely saw mental health resources that reflected the experiences of people with similar backgrounds. When I struggled with my own mental health, it often felt like there wasn’t a professional who could truly understand where I was coming from. This inspired me to pursue my undergraduate degree in psychology and a master’s in counselling psychology. As a Registered Psychotherapist, my therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, and culturally sensitive.
I primarily work with young adults navigating between multiple cultures and mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. I also have experience supporting clients through life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, stress, BPD, and ADHD. Many of my clients feel torn between responsibilities, expectations, and taking care of themselves.

Each person’s journey is different, and together we can create a plan that feels right for you. By combining your lived experience with therapeutic support, we’ll work toward helping you better understand yourself and take control of your mental health. Throughout this process, we’ll identify patterns between your thoughts and behaviours, develop healthier coping strategies, and begin to rewrite your story. You deserve to be heard and understood, and I would be honoured to support you through your healing journey.
